One of the key things in making your website look great is the logo. I’ve lost count of the number of websites I’ve seen that use a well designed premium WordPress theme and then ruin the entire design with a completely unsuitable or low quality logo. If you’re investing time and effort in creating a WordPress based website using a theme, then you need to make sure you get the logo right.

    Here’s how…

    Logo Design Inspiration

Looking at other great logos is a good place to start but you need to be careful here. When you look through logo inspiration websites you’ll see plenty of beautifully designed, high quality, inspiring logos but a lot of time and effort goes into making these.

Top notch logos cost a lot of money too so by spending time looking through logos on logo inspiration websites you are quite likely to find something you love but when you take it to a logo designer and ask them to produce something similar for a low price you’ll probably get something that is far less impressive.

If you are willing to spend a good amount of money ($500 +) and you have found a great logo designer – great. This could be a good way to get your logo produced.

Here’s a few examples of great logos that would need a lot of time and effort to produce. The designers of these logos would spend lots of time exploring concepts, learning about your brand and coming up with the perfect logo to represent it.

So which websites can you use for finding logos to inspire you? I tend to use sites like,, Instagram and Pinterest.

    A Cheaper Alternative

If you don’t have a high budget or even if you do but you don’t know much about logo design, I’d recommend keeping your logo very simple and basing it off a high quality font.

The advantages of this are that your logo will be quicker and cheaper to produce, it is much harder to get wrong and it should be suitable for pretty much any kind of website. Just take a look at many of the default logos that theme designers use as the default logos for their themes. They are usually very simple logos based off a single font and they look great. Here’s a few themes with examples of simple typography based logos:

As you can see, you can create a professional looking logo for your theme without spending a large chunk of money on a logo designer. These logos are not fancy, but they all have one vital component of a great logo – they are appropriate for what they are being used for.

Finding a Font for Your Logo

If you’ve decided to use a simple typography based logo for your website you now have 2 options – let a logo designer know what you want and have them do the logo (which should be much quicker and cheaper than a more complex logo) or learn to do it yourself.

If you’ve got absolutely no design experience or desire to learn yourself then I’d definitely go down the route of hiring a designer. For one of these simple logos it will be much easier to find a designer and it wont break the bank either. You could start your search for a logo designer on Fiverr.

If you’d like to make your own logo there are plenty of resources to help you out. Creative Market will be the perfect place for you to go and learn because not only do they have some great articles about creating your own logo but they also have some amazing resources such as high quality fonts and logo packs.

I’d definitely recommend spending a bit of money on a unique font from Creative Market rather than use a default font of your computer. A nice font from creative market can cost just $20 and can make your logo look much more professional.

Just look at how good the logos on this logo pack from Creative Market look. For just $15 you could have some great options for a simple, clean and versatile logo that could easily be adapted to work for you:

There are lots of resources out there for finding logo designers, finding fonts and getting logo inspiration. I’ve just covered a few options here because there is no point in getting overloaded with the various resources available. You should be able to get a great logo by using the websites mentioned here.

If you do end up creating a logo for your website using these services, please let us know. We’d love to see it in action.
