When you open the demo site for Music, you’ll see that the design is not very trendy or modern. You’ll see a very simple, traditional blog style layout with a content area containing recent news and a sidebar with tour dates and recent posts. Most other pages follow a similar layout.
Having an old school layout and not having many of the design trends you’ll find in popular themes these days is certainly not necessarily a bad thing. Many themes these days tend to include all the same kinds of elements and features to keep up to date with trends and some look amazing but at the end of the day, it all comes down to what will be best for your audience. Sometimes a more traditional blog style layout will work better for your band / musician website.
Whilst the theme works well as a blog, there are plenty of features specifically included for a music based website. You’ll get audio playing capabilities using a HTML5 audio player and the ability to add tour dates and a discography. Thee ‘Music’ theme also has WooCommerce support –
useful for selling merchandise for a band.
As you would expect from a premium theme, you’ll also have the ability to change color options, select Google Fonts and enable custom widgets. Custom post types are used for setting up some of the content which makes things clear and simple.
Overall, this is a good theme and whilst the design doesn’t blow your socks off it is effective and easy to set up. It would be a good choice for bands and musicians with simple requirements.
